When any film is successful, there is often a lot of pressure from the studio from whence it twas birthed for the filmmakers involved to do a follow-up (so the execs can keep cashing in on the original fanfare). In horror movies (at least in the ones where everyone doesn’t end up dead at the end), this can be especially true. However, conventional wisdom states that it is hard to capture lightning in a bottle twice — with the rare exceptions of Aliens, Dawn of the Dead, and Smile 2, which many suggest are some of the very few horror sequels that may have actually exceeded the original films. Most of the time, the sequels stink to low hell and only sully the gruesomely good name of the original.
