Conflicts of interest
Anyone writing for News DIO must disclose to their editor any financial, personal or professional interest in a subject they are covering. Depending on the conflict, the story is reassigned or the interest is disclosed in the piece itself.
Personal holdings
[If you cover markets or crypto, this section is the one readers will check.] Journalists covering markets, companies or digital assets may not trade in anything they write about, and must disclose relevant holdings to their editor. Where a writer holds a position in something mentioned in a story, that is disclosed in the article.
Gifts, travel and hospitality
We do not accept gifts of value. Where travel or accommodation is paid for by a third party in order for us to report on something, the article says so.
Advertising and editorial
Commercial staff have no involvement in editorial decisions, and editorial staff have no involvement in selling. Sponsored content is labelled as sponsored, styled differently from reporting, and never written by the newsroom.
Sources
We do not pay for interviews or information. We honour agreements about attribution made before information is shared, and we do not renegotiate them afterwards.
Plagiarism and fabrication
Both are grounds for immediate dismissal, and any affected article is retracted with an explanation.
Raising a concern
