Pokémon Officially Takes Pikachu Somewhere the Franchise Has Never Gone

Pikachu has spent the last 30 years traveling across the Pokémon world, appearing everywhere from Kanto’s Viridian Forest to the tropical islands of Alola. The franchise’s mascot has even crossed into the real world for parades, museum exhibitions, major sporting events, and collaborations that make an Electric-type mouse feel like an entirely reasonable international ambassador. The Pokémon Company International’s latest partnership has taken that responsibility considerably further. Announced as part of the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebrations, the collaboration combines Pokémon with real science while giving fans new merchandise, museum exhibitions, and special activities inside Pokémon GO.
