2026 hasn’t exactly been a benchmark start to the year for Gerard Butler, who headlined one of the biggest box office bombs back in January, Greenland 2: Migration. Lionsgate opted to evolve the Greenland franchise from more of a classic disaster thriller to a full-on sci-fi epic with the sequel, which led to the film costing around $90 million to make, but it failed to even recoup half of this at the box office, despite the combined star power of Butler and Morena Baccarin, best known for her work in the Deadpool movies and for starring in Sheriff Country. Butler has also been hard at work this year filming the sequel to his highest-grossing movie ever, How to Train Your Dragon. The live-action sequel arrives in theaters next year on June 11, and it also brings Cate Blanchett back as Valka.
