X Launches US Cashtag Trading With Coinbase, Kraken and Major Brokers

X launched a Cashtag Partner Program in the US, linking the ticker pages of stocks, ETFs and cryptocurrencies to five launch partners that provide brokerage services: Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers, and Moomoo.

Users can tap on a supported cashtag, e.g., $BTC, to get to an asset page which contains price information and related posts. Afterwards, by clicking a new button called “Trade”, users can select a participating partner, and either the app or website of the partner opens. X does not actually trade itself; a user has to log in or open a compatible brokerage account to complete a trade on the partner’s platform.

For now, the model is limited to the journey from financial-focused conversation to trading screens, with execution, onboarding and product availability left to the firms. Interactive Brokers told TechCrunch that the feature is live for US based investors, and that its users can move from stock or crypto conversations on X to its app to research an asset or place a trade.

To existing customers, the link will open a broker’s environment. To U.S. customers who have not yet signed up, it will open a registration page for eligible financial products. This preserves X’s function as the entry point and gives the licensed financial platforms the role of execution.

The program joins smart Cashtags announced elsewhere in 2026, bringing market data and talks around assets to X via dedicated ticker pages, turning symbols most commonly seen in finance-themed posts into portals. The latest update adds a transactional function but does not turn X into the place where orders happen itself.

Crypto users are able to access three of the largest crypto exchange partners — Coinbase, Gemini, and Kraken — in addition to Interactive Brokers and Moomoo, which give users access to trading that extends beyond crypto-native exchanges to traditional securities. The available assets are subject to each partner’s respective products, eligibility, and jurisdiction.

X executives said the project connected market discovery and conversation to financial action. Mridul Singhai, X’s lead of product engineering, said Cashtags were created to close the gap between seeing a ticker on the timeline and reaching the corresponding market.

Monique Pintarelli, SpaceXAI’s global advertising lead, said that the partnerships let users go from conversation to a brokerage without leaving the experience.

The launch was part of X’s plan to build financial services around the social network. The Cashtag Partner Program remains separate from the actual trade execution, which is managed by the brokers. X has not announced a timeline for adding partners, nor has it announced plans to expand outside the United States.
