After the success of Tim Burton‘s Batman in the late 1980s, studios across town dedicated themselves to producing movies based on other pulp comic strip characters from the 1930s and 1940s. One of the most prominent superheroes of that era had already been featured in a short-lived television series in the 1960s, around the same time as the Adam West and Burt WardBatman series — in fact, both shows were created by the same man, William Dozier. However, the other property didn’t get a proper film adaptation until much later, during the second wave of superhero cinema in the 2010s.
