It’s Officially the End of an Era for Paramount Pictures

Paramount’s impending merger with Warner Bros. Discovery has been in limbo since July, thanks to lawsuits from a coalition of states led by California to halt the process over concerns about the concentration the company will have in the cable and theatrical market. After two months of waiting, though, CEO David Ellison appears to be making good on his threats to take his ball and go home. Top brass at the entertainment giant have now informed Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, Attorney General Rob Bonta, and other pertinent officials and shareholders that they are “deadly serious” about abandoning their home of 100 years if all attempts to block the merger aren’t dropped. Exit plans have apparently already been set in a move that would shake Hollywood to its core if it comes to pass.
