‘Widow’s Bay’ Star’s New Fantasy Series Was Inspired by ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ and ‘Dragon’s Lair’

It’s a golden year for actor Matthew Rhys, who just recently made history at the 2026 Emmy Awards. He’s dominated screens this year in Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay and The Beast in Me, and now, Paramount+ has dropped all 10 episodes of its SEGA adaptation, Golden Axe, where Rhys plays the battle axe-wielding dwarf, Gilius Thunderhead.
