Denzel Washington’s “Supremely Annoying” Crime Thriller Officially Escapes Netflix

A critically acclaimed blockbuster that seems like the ideal candidate for dad-movie entertainment is about to be removed from Netflix. Interestingly, the film is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, but it still hasn’t caught fire on home-video like so many other movies and shows targeted at the same audience of older men. This is the era of Reacherand Slow Horses, Boschand Yellowstone. The 2006 classic could easily be included among them, or it could inspire a spin-off series on streaming. There’s a precedent for the latter scenario; a Netflix show inspired by the same source material that served as the basis for a 2004 hit was released earlier this year. The 2004 movie, Man on Fire, was headlined by the same star, Denzel Washington, as the movie we’re here to discuss.
