Director M. Night Shyamalan‘s career-saving blockbuster Split is generally regarded as Anya Taylor-Joy‘s grand introduction as a future star, but the film’s success was supplemented by another influential hit that debuted a few days later. Split was released in January 2016, and Taylor-Joy’s other hit was released in February, after having premiered at the Sundance Film Festival a year earlier. The second movie was a critical and commercial hit, albeit on a different scale compared to Split. Shyamalan’s movie grossed a massive $280 million worldwide against a reported budget of under $10 million, while the second film featuring Taylor-Joy grossed around $40 million against a $4 million budget. It’s now streaming on Netflix, but only for a little while longer.
