Guy Ritchie’s ‘MobLand’ Season 2 Officially Defeats Taylor Sheridan on Paramount+

A recent study found that audiences were more likely to lose interest in a television series if it took more than a year to return. HBO boss Casey Bloys would be acutely aware of this statistic, which is why the aim is for the hotly anticipated Harry Potter series to take as little time between seasons as possible, even though Bloys recently admitted that making the annual target is quite impossible. A few weeks ago, Guy Ritchie‘s hit Netflix crime series The Gentlemen returned with a second season after an extended two-year break, and the proof was in the pudding. The show debuted with around 45% lower viewership in its sophomore season, and it continues to struggle to meet the high bar set by the first batch of episodes. This week, Ritchie’s other crime mega-hit, MobLand, returned with a second season as well. And while it’s too early to gauge exactly how well it did upon its return, the smaller gap between seasons appears to be paying off as the show managed to displace the reigning king of Paramount+.
