Netflix Officially Sets a New Release for Its Harrowing Survival Story

Some stories are simply unbelievable, and none is quite as confounding as the one dramatized in the 2023 film Society of the Snow. It tells the story of a Uruguayan rugby team that crashes in the Andes Mountains in 1972 during a trip to Chile. The Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 crash claimed 16 of the 45 lives on board. Trapped in one of the most hostile and inaccessible places on Earth, the remaining 29 passengers are forced to resort to extreme measures to stay alive. Directed by J.A. Bayona, the film was one of the best movies of 2023 and was submitted for two Oscars.
